AUGUST NEWS 2026
Welcome to the dried apricots month "August"
August marks the gentle transition toward the end of the harvest season at Heritage Orchard Farm in Sunnyvale. After the busy weeks of picking and selling fresh fruit, the pace in the orchard slowly begins to change.
One of the main activities this month is sun-drying our apricots. Carefully selected fruits are washed, prepared, and laid out to dry in the warm summer sun. This traditional method allows the natural sweetness of the apricots to intensify while preserving their wonderful flavor. Once the drying process is complete, the apricots are carefully packed and prepared for sale, creating a delicious product that can be enjoyed long after the fresh fruit season has ended.
Although the harvest is winding down, August still involves a great deal of hard work. The orchard team continues with sorting, packaging, and finishing the last batches of apricot products. At the same time, the trees gradually become empty as the final fruits are picked.
As the season slows, we also begin post-harvest tasks around the farm. Equipment is cleaned and stored, orchard areas are tidied, and early maintenance work begins to prepare the trees for the coming months. These important steps help keep the orchard healthy and ready for the next growing cycle.
August is also a moment to reflect on the season and appreciate everyone who helped make the harvest possible. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our helpers, pickers, and supporters who contributed their time and energy during the busy weeks of the harvest.
Your support and visits to the farm stand mean a great deal to us, and we are grateful to be part of such a wonderful community.
As summer slowly moves toward autumn, the orchard becomes quieter again — but the work of caring for the farm continues
year-round.
Warm regards,
Your Apricot Farm Team 🍑✨
