April marks the true arrival of spring in our orchards at Heritage Orchard Farm in Sunnyvale. After the quiet winter months, the farm begins to come alive again as our apricot and cherry trees awaken and the first blossoms start to appear.

​

Over the past weeks, our team has also completed the seasonal clean-up work throughout the orchard. Fallen branches have been cleared, pathways prepared, and the grounds tidied after winter. These tasks are an important first step to ensure the orchard is healthy, safe, and ready for the new growing season.

​

This is the beginning of one of the most magical times of the year. Delicate blossoms begin to open across the orchard, bringing soft shades of white and pink to the landscape. Each blossom is the first step in the journey toward the fruit we look forward to harvesting in early summer.

​

During April, pollination becomes especially important. Bees and other pollinators visit the flowers throughout the day, helping to ensure that the blossoms can develop into healthy apricots and cherries. Warm spring days and gentle sunshine create the ideal conditions for this process to take place.

​

Behind the scenes, our team is busy preparing the orchard for the months ahead. We carefully monitor the health of the trees, check irrigation systems, and make sure the soil has the nutrients needed to support strong growth. Early orchard maintenance helps ensure that the trees can focus their energy on producing high-quality fruit later in the season.

April is also a time of anticipation. While the harvest is still a few months away, the orchard already holds the promise of what’s to come.

As the days grow warmer, the blossoms will slowly give way to the first tiny fruits forming on the branches. Each week brings visible changes, and we look forward to sharing this beautiful transformation with you.
